Students will develop a strong understanding of the metric system and its applications in medical measurements, which are crucial for accurate diagnosis. In addition to core math concepts, students will learn how statistics are applied in medical research. The curriculum introduces descriptive and inferential statistics, including measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode), variability (standard deviation, variance), probability, and confidence intervals. Students will also explore hypothesis testing, correlation, and regression as they relate to analyzing clinical and imaging data. To connect math with real-world practice, examples will include statistical outcomes from diagnostic accuracy studies, error rates in clinical practice, and how sensitivity, specificity, and predictive values are calculated and interpreted in medical imaging.
