Course Description
DMSVTD 400 | Cerebrovascular Ultrasound Total: 40 Hours | E-Lecture: 12 Hours | E-Lab: 12 Hours | On Site Lab: 16 Hours This course provides an in-depth study of the extracranial vessels supplying the brain, focusing on the principles and techniques of ultrasound evaluation of cerebrovascular structures. Students will learn to perform carotid and vertebral artery imaging, assess blood flow velocities, and identify cerebrovascular conditions such as stenosis and emboli. The curriculum also introduces intracranial imaging techniques, specifically Transcranial Doppler (TCD), to provide a comprehensive understanding of cerebrovascular evaluation. Emphasizing accuracy in vascular assessment, the course integrates the physiological significance of cerebral circulation, equipping students with the skills necessary to conduct thorough diagnostic examinations while considering factors that influence cerebrovascular health.
