Course Description

DMSVTD 330 | Introduction to Doppler Hemodynamics Total: 20 Hours | E-Lecture: 6 Hours | E-Lab: 6 Hours | On Site Lab: 8 Hours This course introduces students to the principles and clinical applications of Doppler hemodynamics in diagnostic imaging. Students will learn how Doppler ultrasound measures and evaluates blood flow within the vascular system, providing critical information about circulation and cardiovascular health. The course covers the physical principles of Doppler effect, flow profiles, pressure gradients, resistance, and waveform interpretation. Students will study how factors such as vessel diameter, blood viscosity, and systemic conditions influence flow patterns. Hands-on activities and case-based discussions will focus on identifying normal and abnormal flow characteristics, including stenosis, occlusion, and turbulent flow. Through practical examples, students will develop the skills to correlate Doppler findings with patient conditions, supporting early detection and clinical decision-making. Emphasis is placed on understanding hemodynamic changes across various organ systems and applying Doppler analysis to enhance the accuracy of diagnostic imaging.
