Course Description
DMSVTD 340 | Ultrasound of the Inferior Vena Cava Total: 20 Hours | E-Lecture: 6 Hours | E-Lab: 6 Hours | On Site Lab: 8 Hours This course provides an in-depth study of Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) ultrasound imaging, focusing on the detection and evaluation of conditions such as venous thrombosis, caval compression, and fluid status abnormalities. Students will learn to assess IVC diameter, respiratory variation, and collapsibility, using B-mode and Doppler imaging to analyze hemodynamic patterns and venous return. Emphasis is placed on the clinical application of IVC findings in guiding fluid management, identifying central venous pressure trends, and supporting diagnostic decision-making. Hands-on training and case-based scenarios prepare students to conduct accurate and safe IVC assessments in diverse clinical contexts.
