DMSVTD 580 | Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in Pediatrics & Infants Total: 20 Hours | E-Lecture: 6 Hours | E-Lab: 6 Hours | On Site Lab: 8 Hours This course focuses on the specialized use of ultrasound for musculoskeletal assessment in pediatric and infant patients, emphasizing the unique anatomical and developmental considerations of this population. Students will learn specific techniques for imaging the hip and spine to diagnose conditions such as developmental dysplasia of the hip and spinal abnormalities, which are critical in early childhood. The curriculum also covers general musculoskeletal disorders in children, reinforcing the importance of early detection in supporting proper growth, mobility, and overall physical well-being. Laboratory sessions incorporate simulation models, virtual simulations, and case studies to provide hands-on experience in pediatric ultrasound scanning techniques.
