Course Description

DMSVTD 250 | Practical Ultrasound Techniques Total: 8 Hours | E-Lecture: 0 Hours | E-lab: 0 Hours | On Site Lab: 8 Hours Modeled after the physician-level Nussbaumer Method, this course provides a clinically focused overview of the technical aspects of ultrasound imaging. Students are introduced to core concepts of full body vascular imaging, with an emphasis on timing, precision, and image optimization. The curriculum includes ultrasound system components, scanning techniques, image production, and an introduction to proper use of grayscale (2D), color flow Doppler and spectral Doppler. Students will also be introduced to clinical measurements and spectral analysis. They will begin practicing efficient scan techniques under time constraints to build speed and accuracy. While students are not expected to master interpretation at this stage, they will gain the technical abilities needed to support accurate, patient-centered imaging and documentation. The course prepares them to work alongside interpreting providers with confidence, skill, and a clear understanding of their diagnostic role in the clinical team.
