DMSVTD 410 | Peripheral Vascular Ultrasound Total: 40 Hours | E-Lecture: 12 Hours | E-Lab: 12 Hours | On Site Lab: 16 Hours This course provides a comprehensive study of arterial and venous ultrasound imaging in the upper and lower extremities. Students will learn to assess vascular anatomy, evaluate blood flow dynamics, and identify pathological conditions affecting circulation. The arterial component focuses on detecting stenosis, occlusions, aneurysms, and hemodynamic abnormalities associated with peripheral arterial disease. The venous component covers thrombus detection, venous reflux assessment, and differentiation between acute and chronic venous disorders. Through hands-on training, students will develop skills in scanning techniques, waveform analysis, and clinical interpretation. The course also includes the ultrasound evaluation of soft tissue abnormalities such as abscesses and hematomas in both upper and lower extremities. Emphasizing non-invasive vascular assessment, this course prepares students to contribute to early detection, diagnosis, and management of arterial and venous conditions, improving overall patient outcomes.
