Course Description
DMSVTD 370 | Pancreas Ultrasound & Vasculature Total: 40 Hours | E-Lecture: 12 Hours | E-Lab: 12 Hours | On Site Lab: 16 Hours This course provides students with a focused introduction to ultrasound imaging of the pancreas and its surrounding vascular structures. Students will learn the anatomy and physiology of the pancreas, the appearance of normal pancreatic tissue on ultrasound, and how to recognize common variations and abnormalities. The course covers the major vessels associated with the pancreas, including the splenic artery and vein, superior mesenteric vessels, and portions of the portal venous system. Students will study the relationship between vascular landmarks and pancreatic anatomy to improve identification and diagnostic accuracy. Through case-based examples and practical scanning exercises, students will develop skills in image acquisition, interpretation, and the correlation of vascular and pancreatic findings. Emphasis is placed on early recognition of changes that may indicate inflammation, obstruction, or other pathology, supporting more accurate and timely diagnostic assessments.
