Course Description
DMSVTD 570 | Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in Adults Total: 20 Hours | E-Lecture: 6 Hours | E-Lab: 6 Hours | On Site Lab: 8 Hours This course provides students with a practical and clinically focused foundation in musculoskeletal ultrasound, emphasizing the dynamic, real-time evaluation of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints. Students will learn to identify normal anatomical structures and differentiate pathologies such as sprains, tears, effusions, and other soft tissue injuries. Hands-on training includes ultrasound-guided interventional procedures, image optimization techniques, and region-specific protocols for upper and lower extremities. The course also addresses the role of musculoskeletal ultrasound in injury prevention, rehabilitation planning, and monitoring treatment progress in collaboration with physical therapy or sports medicine teams. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to perform and interpret MSK scans with accuracy, contributing to timely diagnosis and coordinated patient care.
