DMSVTD 170 | Sonographer Safety Total: 8 Hours | E-Lecture: 0 Hours | E-lab: 0 Hours | On Site Lab: 8 Hours This course provides a comprehensive exploration of essential safety practices for sonographers, emphasizing a patient-centered approach to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. Students will learn effective handwashing techniques, rigorous infection control protocols, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases, while fostering an understanding of how these practices support overall patient well-being. The course also covers cleaning and disinfecting ultrasound equipment and workspaces, managing exposure to bloodborne pathogens, and handling other hazardous materials commonly encountered in clinical settings with mindfulness and care.
