Course Description

DMSVTD 340 | Ultrasound of the Inferior Vena Cava Total: 20 Hours | E-Lecture: 6 Hours | E-Lab: 6 Hours | On Site Lab: 8 Hours This course provides an in-depth view of Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) ultrasound imaging, equipping students with the skills to detect and evaluate pathologies such as venous thrombosis, caval compression syndromes, and fluid status abnormalities. Emphasizing the critical role of ultrasound in assessing hemodynamics, students will learn to utilize Doppler imaging to analyze blood flow dynamics within the IVC and its tributaries. The course highlights the clinical significance of IVC assessment in monitoring circulatory health, guiding fluid management, and supporting whole-person care. Through hands-on training and case-based learning, students will develop a comprehensive approach to evaluating venous function while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and diagnostic accuracy.
