Course Description

DMSVTD 350 | Liver Ultrasound & Vasculature Total: 20 Hours | E-Lecture: 6 Hours | E-Lab: 6 Hours | On Site Lab: 8 Hours This course provides an in-depth examination of hepatic anatomy and vascular dynamics using ultrasound imaging, integrating a whole-person approach to diagnosis and care. Students will develop skills to assess liver morphology and vascular flow patterns while considering the liver’s essential role in systemic health, detoxification, and metabolic balance. Emphasis is placed on detecting common hepatic pathologies such as cirrhosis, tumors, and portal hypertension, while also exploring how lifestyle, nutrition, and holistic interventions can influence liver function and vascular health. The course incorporates detoxification strategies to support liver function, including the role of the lymphatic system in clearing toxins, the impact of hydration and circulation on hepatic health, and how dietary modifications can enhance liver detoxification pathways. Special attention is given to the liver’s role in heavy metal detoxification, examining how chelation therapy, herbal support, and mineral balance assist in eliminating toxins. Through hands-on training and case-based learning, students will refine their ability to perform accurate, patient-centered assessments that align with the principles of naturopathic care, ensuring a comprehensive approach to hepatic imaging.
