Course Description

DMSVTD 490 | Introduction to Breast Ultrasound & Vasculature Total: 40 Hours | E-Lecture: 12 Hours | E-Lab: 12 Hours | On Site Lab: 16 Hours This introductory course provides training in breast ultrasound imaging techniques with an emphasis on vascular assessment and a whole-body approach to breast health. Students will develop skills to perform detailed examinations, differentiating normal breast anatomy from abnormalities such as benign and malignant tumors, cysts, and fibroadenomas. The course highlights the importance of assessing breast vasculature to enhance diagnostic accuracy and refine the early detection of breast pathologies. Discussions will extend beyond imaging to explore factors influencing breast health, including hormonal balance, lifestyle considerations, and systemic circulatory function. Lab sessions incorporate simulations and phantoms for hands-on training, ensuring students gain confidence in performing accurate, non-invasive breast evaluations that support comprehensive patient care
