DMSVTD 520 | Gastrointestinal Ultrasound in Adults Total: 20 Hours | E-Lecture: 6 Hours | E-Lab: 6 Hours | On Site Lab: 8 Hours This course explores the application of ultrasound imaging in the adult gastrointestinal tract, with a focus on detecting and differentiating parasitic infections alongside other gastrointestinal pathologies. Students will develop the skills to recognize characteristic sonographic features of various conditions and interpret their clinical significance. Emphasizing a comprehensive approach to digestive health, the course also examines how gut function, microbiome balance, and systemic inflammation influence gastrointestinal conditions. By integrating ultrasound as a non-invasive diagnostic tool, students will gain a deeper understanding of how early detection and ongoing assessment can support digestive function, aid in treatment planning, and promote long-term gut health.
