Course Description

DMSVTD 630 | Introduction to Hematology with Ultrasound Total: 20 Hours | E-Lecture: 6 Hours | E-Lab: 6 Hours | On Site Lab: 8 Hours This course explores the role of hematology in diagnostic imaging, bridging the connection between blood analysis and ultrasound assessment of circulatory health and hematologic disorders. Students will examine how blood composition, clotting mechanisms, and vascular dynamics impact overall health and disease progression. The hands-on lab component will focus on phlebotomy practice, IV access, and infusion techniques, reinforcing essential skills in venipuncture, blood collection, and safe administration of fluids or contrast agents. Students will also perform blood type analysis and basic hematologic testing, applying laboratory findings to clinical decision-making and ultrasound correlation. By integrating hematology with imaging, students will gain a deeper understanding of vascular function, helping to detect imbalances, guide interventions, and support patient outcomes. This course ensures that each assessment contributes not just to diagnosis, but to restoring balance and optimizing circulatory health.
