Course Description
DMSVTD 470 | Oncologic Ultrasound: Tumor Neovascularization Total: 20 Hours | E-Lecture: 6 Hours | E-Lab: 6 Hours | On Site Lab: 8 Hours This course introduces students to the use of ultrasound in the evaluation of tumors, with a focus on neovascularization, blood flow dynamics, and vascular mapping. Students will study how new blood vessel formation, including arteriagenesis and venagenesis, supports tumor development and progression. The course covers the principles of tumor vascularization, flow resistance, and the identification of abnormal vessel patterns. Students will learn techniques for assessing perfusion, mapping vascular supply, and detecting atypical flow characteristics in oncologic imaging. Through case studies and practical exercises, students will develop skills in Doppler imaging, vascular mapping, and interpretation of tumor-related hemodynamics. Emphasis is placed on early detection, monitoring of vascular changes, and supporting clinical decisions through detailed vascular assessments.
