Course Description
EXT 100 | Externship I On Site Clinic Total: 160 Clinical Hours on site at ADOM This course provides the first phase of supervised clinical education, conducted in an on-site clinical training environment prior to placement in external healthcare facilities. During this phase, students perform ultrasound examinations under direct supervision on patients in a structured clinical setting. Emphasis is placed on the application of foundational skills, including equipment operation, image acquisition, patient positioning, and adherence to standardized scanning protocols. Students begin performing full examination protocols in general and vascular ultrasound, including but not limited to abdominal, pelvic, vascular, and small-parts imaging. Training focuses on developing consistency in image quality, workflow efficiency, and professional patient interaction. All clinical activities are supervised and competency-based. Students are evaluated through structured check-offs, protocol completion, and performance assessments to ensure readiness for progression into external clinical environments. This phase serves as a transition from laboratory-based instruction to real-world clinical practice, reinforcing technical skills, patient care, and professional standards in a controlled clinical setting.
