Course Description

MATH 100 | Math for Healthcare Professionals Total: 4 Hours | E-Lecture: 4 Hours | E-Lab: 0 Hours | On-Site Lab: 0 Hours This course strengthens the mathematical foundation necessary for success in diagnostic medical sonography, vascular technology, and other healthcare professions. Students review the metric system and its application to medical measurement, dosage calculations, and technical precision in clinical environments. The course also introduces basic statistical concepts used in healthcare research and diagnostic evaluation. Topics include descriptive statistics (mean, median, mode), measures of variability, probability, and the interpretation of clinical research findings. Students are introduced to concepts such as sensitivity, specificity, predictive values, and error rates used in evaluating diagnostic tests. Through applied examples and practice exercises, students develop the quantitative reasoning skills necessary to interpret research findings, analyze clinical data, and support evidence-based diagnostic decision making.
