Course Description
DMSVTD 360 | Gallbladder & Biliary Ultrasound & Vasculature Total: 40 Hours | E-Lecture: 12 Hours | E-Lab: 12 Hours | On Site Lab: 16 Hours This course introduces students to the use of ultrasound in evaluating the gallbladder, biliary tree, and associated structures, including vascular structures. Students will learn normal and abnormal ultrasound appearances of the gallbladder, bile ducts, and surrounding vessels, with a focus on recognizing early signs of disease. The course covers gallbladder anatomy, bile duct anatomy, vascular landmarks, and common pathologies such as cholelithiasis, cholecystitis, and biliary obstruction. Students will study techniques for imaging the biliary system and for identifying vascular flow patterns that assist in diagnosis. Through practical scanning activities and case-based discussions, students will develop skills in image acquisition, vascular mapping, and correlating clinical findings with ultrasound appearances. Emphasis is placed on supporting early detection and clinical decision-making through careful assessment of both biliary and vascular structures.
